Adjustable step for the high wheel bicycle.
Quote from Russell Mamone on August 5, 2023, 7:32 pmFor club members needing the adjustable step, I now have available stock. Most high wheels had fixed steps, and in some cases, were too high or too low for the size of the rider in mounting the bike. Hence the adjustable step was invented back in the 1880s. Pope and G&J both offered steps, and Dan Rudge thought so highly of the adjustable, he made a special forging for his offering. In some cases, the adjustable step can be used to replace the original, which was lost or damaged. Our repro step is very similar in design and feasible for today's owner. Our step and all of the parts are stainless steel, and is designed for a 1-1/4 inch diameter backbone; however, a spacer to help fit is supplied (see Photo). Complete with all nuts and bolts. Take a look and get in touch. $150. postage by priority mail included. Russell Mamone, 2610 Northampton St, NW, Washington DC 20015 or cherryblossom2216gem@gmail.com
