1879 Columbia Standard
« on: June 13, 2019, 09:27:32 AM »
Glenn Eames posted on the Wheelmen Facebook website about his 1879 Columbia Standard.
At Copake, I was fortunate enough to acquire # 1044 of the 1050 Columbia Standards manufactured in 1879. The wheel size is 44".
Glenn is inquiring if any of the 1878 bikes exist.
How many 1879 Standards are out there?

Hello Keith and All,

I know of six surviving examples. I don't know the serial numbers of all of these though. One is now on display in N.Y.C. at the "Cycling in the City" exhibit . If any Wheelmen member happens to view this exhibit ask if you could have a look at the serial number that is stamped on the top of the left side crank.

The ' 79 Columbia appears at the beginning portion of the video.

It can be seen here to.
