Welcome To The World Of The Wheelmen!
We are a not-for-profit family oriented
organization dedicated to the enjoyment and preservation of our
bicycling heritage. Wheelmen members enjoy all kinds of bicycles and
bicycling. The Wheelmen do however have a special interest in the first
100 years of cycling, 1816-1916. Members enjoy sharing what they know
about bicycle history, period costumes, proper bicycle restoration, and
riding skills with each other and the public.
State Captains organize group rides, parades, and other events for the
members to display and demonstrate their bicycles, costumes, and skills
in order to educate the public and add atmosphere to historic or festive
occasions.
Our Annual Meets (Conventions) are held in different locations around
North America, in locations such as Williamsburg, VA; Buffalo, NY;
Golden, CO; and Toronto, Canada. This year we will gather in St. Mary of
the Woods, IN. Typically, these meets include Century and pleasure
rides, bicycle competitions, casual games, and swap meets. We also
typically have social events which include Victorian tea and picnics.
I have the honor of being the first lifelong member of The Wheelmen to
be elected as Commander. My
grandfather joined before my parents were
married, so I was lucky enough to grow up riding antique bicycles.
I’ve
enjoyed continuously learning about bicycling history and sharing with
friends, the public, and my teachers through countless school projects.
I hope you enjoy finding treasures and experiencing the history of
bicycling
as much as I do.
We hope you will enjoy browsing our website. If you are interested in becoming a member, visit our
Membership web page

You need not own an antique bicycle to be a member;
just bring your interest in the history of cycling!
If you would like to arrange Wheelmen participation at your event, please visit our
State Divisions web page
and contact the State Captain.
