Lorne,
I have just found a original hub lamp bearing but cannot understand your description that if a 1 3/4" width like your photo example shown is too narrow to fit, why would a 1 5/8" or wider (which is narrower yet and a wider one could include a 1 3/4" width like your example) work for you?

Very cool to see a young Julian watching the drill team as he is now participating with them.

OK, sorry about the late organization and late notice.   We will have a show up and pay Mid WInter Social Brunch at Old Sturbridge Village on Sunday March 8th at 11:30 AM.  I have made reservations for 25 people, please let me know ASAP if you will attend and how many in your party.  Cost is  $21.95 for adults, and that DOES NOT include tax and tip.  DO NOT send me any money!  Everybody will just pay for themselves at OSV.

Info on the rates is here : https://www.osv.org/event/sunday-brunch/

I would like to give them a total # coming in the middle of next week so if you could reply by Wednesday or NOW that would be awesome!  dave@pelletizer.com

Thanks!

Enjoy this short clip of Joff Sommerfield's trip featuring the Wheelmen Annual Meet in Waukesha.  Randy, Amy, Dick and I had a great time riding with Joff from Milwaukee to Waukesha.  Wonderful riding by our youth drill team and shots of a very young Jullian Montsch.

Librarian Smith comes through again, to confirm that our Model 32 is, like 58er opined, indeed from 1900.

Thanks, all.

I have two more of these G&J rear sprung bicycles but they are in a state of already being painted and parts already nickel plated and need re assembly.

I haven't seen a bicycle like this offered at Copake Antique Bicycle Auction 2020.

Thanks for posting the 1898 intro flyer. That 1899 model year Model 16 Crescent looks very similar. Only notable differences are the handlebar stem (adjustable bar angle), seat post (rearward type), and chainring spider (more bulbous at attachment). Maybe there were other years Crescent offered their Model 16? I imagine the stem and post could've been just swapped out at the dealer. And maybe the crank change was a running change later in the the year. "Parts spec subject to change."

Nice to see mention of the "Rosewood" finish on the mud guard. I'll be restoring ours, it's in two pieces now. I imagine many of these broke. Maybe someone knows a source for the mud guard ferrules? Looks like a Stimpson SG 5-7. I imagine they were flashed with nickel originally, though ours are pretty dang dark now.

Does anyone know of a Crescent serial number listing?

Joe
