I came across this G & J bike lock on eBay:

Even though this padlock is stamped G&J, I have my doubts that this lock is a Gormully & Jeffery of Chicago padlock for the simple reason the locks G&J catalogs offered were the Ideal lock, American Bicycle lock, Perfection lock, Chicago lock, and Yale locks. Don't remember seeing anything like this one.

you are probably correct Craig, I bet there are a lot of old American companies by the name of G & J.
I see this other photo is more clear. I found there is a company by the name of G & J Products that made locks and calipers, machinist rules and many other metal items. That company has the same diamond logo as the one on this lock so now we know who made it! Nothing to do with the bicycle company.
