Cycling Discussion: Past & Present combined
« on: August 13, 2018, 05:43:13 PM »
Stevens, Thayer, Nellis, Lenz, and Kron. Last names, easily recognizable in the early annuls of cycling to those of whom, appreciate the humble beginnings of where two-wheeled exploration originally began. Like many others, I have read their written accounts [still actively working on Karl Kron’s 10,000 miles on a bicycle . . . phew!] of their adventurous, and ground-breaking individual journeys taken across not only the United States, but the world as well, and been truly inspired and thoroughly entertained. Their incredible stories told, have never been lost or faded in glimmer long since finished reading them I have found. In fact, they have forever played an important part in my own cycling exploits in recent years, as some of my own travels have seen me cycling specifically some of the same roads, trails, and even paths, that these famed wheelmen did at one time.

Fellow wheelmen, cyclists, historians, and all-around outdoors loving individuals in the tri-state Philadelphia region, on Sunday, August 26, 2018, I am going to be the guest speaker at a free event titled: Riding The Divide – The Legendary Tour Divide Mountain Bike Race. This discussion is set to take place at the L.L.Bean Center Valley retail store, located in beautiful Center Valley, Pennsylvania. During the program, much emphasis will be placed on what some say is the toughest bike race in the world hands down, and my own participation in it. Additionally, the topics of bicycle touring & bikepacking, as well as the riding of historic canal way trails is expected to be touched upon.
