Just found this today.
A nice stereo card with a young girl on a steel-wheeled tricycle.
$15 takes it and I'll toss it in a protective envelope when paid.

As for being able to roll the tire off the rim, think about going around a sharp corner with some speed. The pavement is trying to roll the tire off the rim while you're turning.

After dyeing the box with Fiebings Medium Brown dye.
And installed in saddle springs after coating with Fiebings Resolene for water resistance.

I created a 3" diameter tool box to fit in the saddle spring.
When I build one of these, I start to realize the cost quoted for these. It takes a lot of time!
Simple materials (leather, thread, rivets, and a buckle), some tools, and time.
Next up is trimming loose threads and dyeing it black or brown.

A big thing to remember if you start one is the proper sequence of assembly. Need to rivet some parts together before you sew.up the box. Also, plan the sewing sequence so you don't block out an area to sew.

Contact Lynda Katterheinrich (check your directory).
She recently said they are letting go their girls' 50" Zimovcak (nice repro from The Czech Republic).

Um, is this a typo?  Was this meant as Hannibal to Sedalia?
Rt 36 isn't a direct route to Sedalia.

A direct route from Hannibal to Sedalia is only 150-160 miles.

A caution to those considering riding the Katy Trail. Due to flooding, I've heard sections were closed. I read clearing it up might take some time.
For example, here is a page that might help:

Another source is Brenda Rittenhouse in your Directory.

BTW, word from the Wheelmen Membership Chairman is that this Museum just joined the Wheelmen!

It appears that many Wheelmen in the SE Michigan area have not received their Wheelmen Magazine in the mail. I am hearing that last week they did receive the other envelope with the Directory and Handbook inside.

Let's give it a few days this week. Let me know if you have not received your Magazine or the other envelope with Directory & Handbook.

Members of The Wheelmen should soon be receiving two items in the mail.
One envelope contains the current Magazine.
The other envelope contains the biennial Directory and the latest edition of the Wheelmen Handbook.

Again, you should be receiving two identical-looking envelopes in the mail. I received mine today so they are on their way to your mailbox!

A reminder: These will be received by current, paid-up members.
For that first NEWSLETTER sent out a couple months ago, everyone paid up for 2019 and ALL members from 2018 received that issue. But, now just folks current with dues will see the Magazines and Newsletters.

If you have a question about your membership status, send the Membership Chairman an e-mail at:

Does someone have a 56" Expert wheel available?
Or even a solid 56" rim suitable for an Expert?

In lieu of selling my Expert, I may re-build the wheel myself and ride it into the sunset (or something like that).

For the five-day trip to Waukesha a few years ago, I mounted one of my 1970s TA handlebar bags on my 56" Expert backbone.  I used a segment of Cinelli handlebar, a strap bolt, and an antenna clamp.  Trying it out on my Light Roadster, I found it scratched the paint and dug into the backbone by the sharp corners of the antenna clamp.

I put two stainless hose clamps around the backbone where the scratches were and tightened them up, but with the screw body to the side of the backbone so that they did not interfere with the tire.

The antenna clamp edges then contact the hose clamps instead of digging into the backbone.

The hose clamps I had were extra long, so clamping onto the backbone temporarily showed how much excess there was.  That excess length was broken off so as to not interfere with the tire.

Rather complicated, but spreads the stresses on the backbone out more.

An idea to pass along - and to ask if anyone sees a problem with doing it this way. I know it's not 'old school' but I don't want a bag to rotate into the wheel.
