Stolen Bicycles! Stolen today from my inlaw's shop in Rainier OR.
Men's Columbia Chainless Model 65 in original condition, 27" frame
42" Star - older restoration. The Star has a very identifiable repair.
Please keep an eye out for these. Someone at some point is going to try to sell them. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

This is so and shocking to hear something like this happening in this day and age. I wonder if there any more details explaining the theft event that could be published.

We all know their are unscrupulous individuals who will leap at the chance to get a hold of one of these bikes and to avoid being caught they will sell 'as-parts'. I'm still wondering how in the world is a bike stolen from a bike shop? Did someone forget to lock the door or was there a break-in under the cover of darkness? >:(

While riding my RBR around town I was stopped by a policeman. :P He just staring asking about my bike. Apparently, I convince him or my head badge didn't match. He confided that its not the stolen high wheeler that someone took from the back of the police station. The police got it for a community relations item.
I knew the local bike shop would put one out front and sometimes close-up shop and forget to bring it in.

I'll keep and eye open for these. I have some customers in Oregon I may be able to spread the word around to. Definitely need to see the pictures and distinguishing characteristics of the bikes.

A friend of mine owns a company called SNAGG. It specializes in a RFID unit that is about the size of a grain of rice. It is used widely by expensive guitar makers and is imbedded somewhere in the guitar when it is being built for the sole purpose of recovery of the guitar. The RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) unit can be tracked and is quite precise as to location of an item such as a stolen guitar Of course this SNAGG unit won't prevent theft, but has been proven to be quite efficient.
Maybe hide one in valuables such as our expensive antique bicycles.
