From a post in FaceBook from the Historic Summerville group.

Looking at a map, Newburgh is only about 65 miles SSW of Copake!
Might be worth a wee bit of a detour going to or from Copake this spring.

Here's a Richardsonian Romanesque 1908 building which was the first restored by my newly formed ORG, Newburgh Architectural Conservancy in Newburgh's Historic District, the largest in the state.
Local Newspaper Stories on the restoration:

It was the National Headquarters for the "Wheelman's Club" a group of early 20th century bicycle enthusiasts. They rode those bikes with huge front wheels a saddle seat and small wheel in the rear. They lobbied Washington hard for better roads and were the initial impetus for road improvement prior to explosive automobile use which then created the impetus for the national highway system.

Note the stained glass window, I had it disassembled piece by piece, then reconstructed wit new lead. It's a W inside of a wing and tire. It is the logo for that group.
