Pedalers  Bicycle Museum to open for travelers to Wheelmen National Meet

A trip to Missouri for the Wheelmen Annual Meet would not be complete without a visit to the Pedalers Bicycle Museum in Springfield, Missouri.  Created and owned by Missouri Captain and past Wheelmen Commander James Allen, the Pedalers Bicycle Museum is a hugely popular museum full of the most unique and amazing bicycles in the West.  Highlights of the collection are the “Lamplighter” Bicycle, used in New York City in the late 1800s, allowing the rider to stay mounted on the 7 foot frame while lighting the street lamps.  Other highlights include a bicycle assembled by the Wright Brothers, a 12-seater bicycle, and a collection of high wheel ordinaries ridden across America by Wheelmen Nolan Bay and Jack Castor.

James will have the museum open the day before the Wheelmen Annual Meet starts on Tuesday, July 23 from 10 am until 6 pm.  Springfield is a 100 mile drive from Sedalia, which makes a great chance to see many of the treasures James has collected through the years.  Plan on making a trip to the Pedalers Museum an addition to your itinerary for the Wheelmen National Meet.  The Pedalers Bicycle Museum is located on 328 East Commercial Street in Springfield, Missouri.  You can call James at 417-576-1464 for more information.

You said: "Springfield is a 100 mile drive from Sedalia,"

How far is it from Springfield to Sedalia by high wheel?

Oh, wait, never mind, it's SOUTH of Sedalia.   <rats> <curses, foiled again>

John, thanks for posting this.  So very neat.  Where did you find it?  We definitely need to get permission to have this for our Wheelmen Annual Meet Memorabilia and possibly place it on the Meet Brochure.

Mural: The Oklahoma Land Rush, April 22, 1889, by John Steuart Curry at the Department of Interior, Washington, D.C.
Rights Advisory: No known restrictions on publication.

It is located at the at the Department of Interior, Washington, D.C.
It you look closely at the green wagon with the red wheels, you'll notice the wagon read, "Curry Wagon Works Madison, WI."

Note - the copy I found someone vandalize the wagon top. Wrote Sedalia instead of Oklahoma or bust. 8)
