Thank you for your responses. I will give him the Uship and maybe the bike flights option. Anybody have an idea idea how much it would cost for this double bike box method from CT to Miami? I know it will change depending on weight and size of the box, but I am just looking for a very rough estimate.

General discussions on Wheelmen topics. / Shipping High Wheel Bicycle

Hello,

I have a high wheel bicycle for sale on eBay and somebody is interested in buying it. I have it up as local pickup only and told him he could hire a 3rd party to pick it up and ship it if he really is interested (I'm in CT and he is in Miami). He was looking for advice on how he could get it shipped to him. Has anybody shipped a high wheel across the country so I can direct him in the right direction? The bike is a 56" Columbia Expert.

Thanks in advance!
Nyle

1886 56" Columbia Expert. Restored with new spokes, tires, seat, grips, pedal rubber, nickel plating, paint- minor chips from normal riding, reproduction badge. Rear hub was made by Ed Lee modeled off real Columbia Expert rear hub. One of the spokes on the big wheel has been spot welded and I will upload a picture of that when I get a chance. The bike has about 150 miles on it since I purchased it. I used it for local parades, local rides, and once for the Frederick high wheel race. It rides very nice. I am only selling because it is too big for me.

Any questions I will do the best I can to answer. Located in Milford, CT. Local pickup or I can bring it to Hershey for the car show/swap meet in October. Asking $5500

I highly recommend the stand from Larry Lunz. I have one for each of my high wheel bikes and a few extra just in case any bikes follow me home ;)
