Mystery Wood-frame Bike

(1/1)

joe:
I have a c1900 bike with a wood frame and fork. Each have blackened metal lugs, perhaps made of brass. And of course, wooden rims and handlebars.

Anyone have a clue who made this bike?

Jeff Kidder:
1896 Huseby by Huseby Cycle Company in Milwaukee WI. The company was incorporated January 1896. The company failed and went into receivership August 22, 1896.
The wood is rock elm. Three models were offered - a racer, a roadster and a women's pattern.
A period article said they produced 40 bicycles a day.
George Huseby was born 1865 in Norway and moved with his parents to America in 1871.
